The Milkco Complete Colostrum Collection Kit offers you with everything you need to for colostrum collection and storage. The complete kit provides you with small syringes for use when you first start to 5 ml syringes that will be required as your supply grows.

All the syringes are fitted with an ENFit compatible connector so in the unlikely event your baby is admitted to special care, the colostrum can be fed via tube if necessary.

Making labelling and storage easy, this complete colostrum collection kit contains waterproof labels that fit snuggly onto the syringe. This presents the labels getting wet and tearing off your syringes in the freezer.

To assist with storing your syringes, the kit comes with three reusable zip lock freezer bags. Fill each bag with your colostrum filled syringes ready for when you need to leave for the hospital. As the freezer bags are reusable they will continue to be of use once your colostrum has all been used. Some suggestions are food storage, make up or travel bag.

The silicone cup contained within the kit has a dual purpose. It is useful for storing your syringes in the freezer while they freeze. When it comes times to defrost and heat your colostrum, this cup assists with warming your syringes.

When should I start collecting colostrum?

Generally, you may commence expressing at 36 weeks gestation, but before expressing and storing colostrum antenatally it is important to discuss this with your health care provider/s to ensure it is a good option for you and your pregnancy. Which colostrum kit should I buy?

If you aren’t sure which is the right colostrum kit for you, here a few tips to help.

If this is your first pregnancy and you don’t have any pregnancy related issues, then the MilkCo Mini Colostrum kit is probably the best option for you. It will provide you with enough to get started and store your precious gold.

If this is a second or subsequent pregnancy, you have experienced pregnancy complications (and have medical clearance to express pre-natally), or have breastfed before, then you might be better off with this kit or the Made to Milk Antenatal Colostrum Kit. The larger kits allow you to collect more colostrum which might be needed if you are producing a lot or if you need to collect more as a precaution for post natal feeding.

The earlier you start expressing, the bigger the kit you will need as your supply will increase each day. Each person is different, but for myself in my second pregnancy, I was able to fill 2 x 3 ml syringes every day for the last two weeks of expressing.
